Griffith is gay
Like, there's chapters of Griffith being a sexually frustrated mixed up gay man, who from the moment he layed eyes on guts started acting like he was in love with him and couldn't see it himself. A lot could be said and debated about whether or not Griffith has sexual or romantic feelings for Guts. It's not implausible, but you have to keep in mind that Griffin is consistently portrayed as a narcissistic sociopath.
Berserk one of the most highly acclaimed manga and anime of all time, today I discuss its core characters Guts and Griffith and their relationship. Are they gay? or are Guts and Griffith just. Griffith and Guts were two super-buds like Frodo and Sam, but written in a time where Miura could pick up on the fact that a relationship like that would seem gay to modern audiences.
He was very suspicious of Griffith having gay feelings for him when they first met (though this was a result of homophobia because of Donovan, as well as Griffith's strange expression--"I want you"). I have been rereading and thinking about the Golden age arc alot lately.
One of the things i have though about is what Griffith meant to Guts. There is some panels that indicate that Guts saw Griffith in the same light as Gambino someone he wanted validation from. But im not quite sure. It also seems that he saw him as a good friend or rather his first friend. Thats why Guts overhearing the conversation between Griffith and Charlotte hurt him so much.
There is also some people that claim that Guts was in love with Griffith, given how some people interpret homoerotic undertones in their relationship and dialogues. Has Miura given any comments to their relationships in interviews? So what do you guys think? Aazealh Administrator Staff member. Guts certainly wanted Griffith to respect and appreciate him, but that doesn't mean he was like Gambino his father figure to him.
It's just a pretty natural thing to expect from someone you look up to and consider your best friend. What's ironic about this whole affair is that what Griffith told Charlotte at the fountain didn't actually reflect how he felt about Guts. He did respect and value him, even though he might have been lying to himself about it. And in turn, these words prompted Guts to leave because he thought he had to seek something for himself in order to prove his worth in Griffith's eyes, despite the fact he felt at home in the Band of the Falcon.
It was all a big waste prompted by Griffith's flawed view of the world, or you could say his coping mechanism to insulate himself emotionally from the pain of watching his soldiers die among other things he had to endure. In any case, this was also all meant to be.
