Footmen Brimsley and Reynolds, played by Sam Clemmetts and Freddie Dennis respectively, are the two characters involved in the story. After playing a gay role in "Queen Charlotte," there have been questions about whether or not Freddie Dennis is gay offscreen and in a relationship with his costar. While there is still mystery around if Freddie Dennis is dating anyone, his on-screen love interest is happily married to a woman.

What fans didn’t know was that Charlotte’s longtime companion, Brimsley (Sam Clemmett), was embroiled in a complex romance of his own with the king’s footman, Reynolds (Freddie Dennis). But. The London-born actor moved away from the city at the age of 8 and returned as a teenager, where he stayed and enrolled at University College London to study geography.

The year-old enrolled in the one-year course at the Oxford School of Drama when he was 23, during the pandemic. One of the final rounds to get onto the course, we had to send in a tape, the choices were between being a small bird or a squirrel.

In the tape, Dennis pretends to discover a walnut, he goes over to it and touches it a bit before freaking out when he sees a person. He eventually returns to the walnut, cracks it, runs off and climbs up a chair as if it were a tree. He was told the role had one line, but it could develop into more. His sister helped him film his tape. He confesses to finding it difficult to watch himself on screen in the beginning and it knocked his confidence down.
